Uniting for Peace

Stronger Communities Together.

We are working to bridge the gap between community members and law enforcement in Washtenaw County.

How it started

How It Started

In 2022, Detroit held “Peacenic’s” its first gathering as a part of “One Detroit.” The goal was to decrease summer crime reduction strategy, featuring community events and law enforcement, with the goal of combating gun violence and fostering positive community relations.

In 2023, Rev. Joseph O. Jackson decided to lead an initiative in Ypsilanti aimed at bringing peace and healing to neighborhoods heavily impacted by violence and neglect.

By 2024, the first event was launched, attracting over 500 local attendees. What started as a modest effort to foster unity has since expanded into a citywide movement, gaining the support of faith leaders, law enforcement, educational institutions, local government, and community organizations.

Together, we can rewrite the narrative – one conversation at a time.
